ABOUT DARI DIARY

Stories with heart.
And with roots.

Hello, I’m Mohammed.

I’ve worked as a graphic designer for 14 years, and today I work in marketing at a large German company that develops mobile games. Design is both my profession and my passion. Outside work, I’ve always made time for my own ideas and creative projects.

My roots matter just as much to me: my father is Iranian and my mother is Afghan. Both cultures are part of who I am — and now they are part of the stories I want to share.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

An idea that began
with family.

As more of my cousins married and had children, a wish emerged in our family: more children’s books that reflect our Afghan and Iranian cultures — warmly told, thoughtfully designed and in two languages.

Some books were already out there. But the choice felt limited to us, especially when it came to bilingual stories. As a designer, I saw an opportunity to contribute something of my own: books in which words and pictures come together to create a familiar world.

WHAT INSPIRES ME

A connection to culture.
A sense of belonging.

That idea became Dari Diary. Through writing and design, I discovered a new passion: children’s books that bring joy while nurturing a connection to language, family and heritage.

I hope children will find something familiar in my books and discover something new along the way. I hope parents will read with them, start conversations and pass on a little of their language. And perhaps the grown-ups will rediscover a word or two themselves.

With every book, I want to invite children to explore their culture with curiosity and a sense of belonging — through pictures as much as through words.
